Colour – a fine golden glow.
Smell – Oooooo. Toasted barley, smoke and a touch of salt. You can just about taste this dram already.
First taste – Bang – ouch – wow! Talisker packs a punch, it smacks you right in the puss. Bold baked smoked barley, yes smoke and lots of it, dollops of peat and salty seaweed too, bitter and sweet richness combined. Complex. A big bold brash performance, but with a surprisingly sophisticated sweet finish.
A drop of water really helps bring out the flavours with this one.
8/10 A classic.
