The Perfect Old Fashioned Cocktail

Av Joe Campanella
This Old Fashioned cocktail may be enjoyed by someone wearing a shirt and tie, but it was perfected for those with calloused hands…

Take 1 teaspoon of filtered water and mix with 1 sugar cube at the bottom of a short glass. Take a piece of lemon rind and throw it on the bottom of the glass. Keep mixing. After all the sugar has dissolved remove the lemon rind and throw it away. Mix in 2.5 ounces of either bourbon or rye whiskey. Add a chunk of ice (the night before, fill a ziplock bag full of filtered water and put it in the freezer. When you’re ready to make your drink, take the block of ice out and give it a good thump with a hammer). Garnish with a new piece of lemon rind.

The best part about this cocktail is that the ice will last for well over an hour. When you’re done with your first mixed drink, feel free to grab the bottle and keep on pouring.
