Balblair Distillery can look the part of the moody Highlands whisky lair. In truth it is a friendly place, off the beaten track of distilleries in Scotland, as those things go, and all the more delightful for not being pretentious. It’s pagoda tower is good evidence that it was designed by the famous Charles Doig. And it stills uses the water from the original source, Ault Dearg burn.
