Coopers at the Glenfiddich Distillery build casks for whisky aging out of the pieces of casks used to age other spirits, mostly bourbon casks from the United States. Whisky picks up flavors from the refurbished casks during years of aging. One of the things I love about rural Scotland and the whisky business is the preservation of traditional crafts in a living landscape.
